Data communication
At the beginning, people from different locations needed to communicate between each other, on this new global network called Internet. In order to do so, they needed firstly to find each other through this network. So they invented some purpose-designed devices called routers – they are in charge of finding the route to any destination existing in the Internet network.
Once routers in place, people were able to communicate with any other people anywhere in this network. Furthermore, people were able to accessed by anyone from anywhere. On the other hand, anyone could gain access to their internal network.
This was not so good anymore – people with not so good intentions could get into their network. This is how the Firewall and VPN (Virtual Private Network) technologies arose, followed by UTM (Unified Threat Management), and the SSL VPN and IPS (Intrusion Prevention Systems) technologies respectively.
In the following sections, each of these above categories is presented in brief.
Routing Portfolio
Depending on people needs, Infratel Net provides two types of industry-leading routing solutions from Juniper Networks, specifically designed for Enterprise and Service Providers needs.
Regardless of the needs above, Juniper Networks routers share the same intelligence (a.k.a. operating system) – JUNOS, a completely modular operating system, capable of:
- predictable performance – JUNOS guarantees that the Juniper routers will continue to run at high performance even under heavy traffic load with all services enabled
- a complete suite of routing protocols – allows people to consolidate all services into one IP / MPLS platform
- with the most comprehensive set of VPN features – makes possible the inter-connection between locations using any standard VPN technology
- security technologies like stateful firewall and VPN allow people to secure their communications
- no licensing fees required for advanced services such as IPv6, MPLS, IPSec, and stateful firewall. No port licenses are required to operate onboard or modular interfaces.
Security Portfolio
As people need to communicate, they need to protect protect their communications and networks, from other people, and oftenly even from themselves.
In the early stages, people needed just to secure their internal networks from outside (inbound). As people have experience in surrounding themselves by walls, they applied this solution also to their networks – they used burning walls to protect the networks and called this technology firewall.
Once the internal networks were secured, people needed to keep private also the communications between the protected networks, while in transit over Internet – people called this technology Virtual Private Networking.
